Only routes you can use
If a route isn’t available to your account, the app won’t offer it.
Recipients are verified too
In the app, you can only pay recipients who have their own verified Finex Pay account.
Straight answers
Questions people ask
before they pay.
- Does my recipient need to register?
Yes. Your recipient needs their own Finex Pay account before you can pay them. They sign up with their mobile number and pass the same identity checks as you, so both sides of every payment are verified.
- What is Finex Pay?
Finex Pay is the Finex SA Group company for merchant and alternative payments. It focuses on payment gateways and digital value exchange for merchants and partners, and lets registered customers make cross-border payments with the full quote in view before they pay.
- Does Finex Pay hold my money?
No. Finex Pay does not receive or hold funds. We facilitate transactions between licensed entities.
- How is the fee charged?
The fee is included in the amount you pay. We take it off before converting, and your quote shows the fee, the amount converted and what your recipient gets.
- When is my rate locked, and what if I don’t pay in time?
Your rate is locked when you confirm the quote. Pay within the time shown; if you don’t, the rate expires and you’ll need a new quote, which you confirm and pay.
- Where can I send money?
Routes depend on the currency you pay with and the currency your recipient receives. Sign in to see the routes open to your account. Businesses confirm their routes during onboarding.
- Is there a minimum amount?
Payments to rand (ZAR) accounts must deliver at least R50 to your recipient. If an amount is below the minimum for its route, the app tells you before you continue.
- How do I get help or make a complaint?
For help or to make a complaint, call 0861 111 842 or use the Finex Pay contact form. Complaints should first be raised with Finex Pay. If you are unsure which ombud can assist, the Ombud Council can guide you.
