The invoice
One invoice.
Clear at every step.
- The exact amount, in the invoice
- The Lightning invoice carries the bitcoin amount, so your wallet pays exactly that. Our fee is already included.
- A clock you can see
- The invoice shows how long you have to pay. Your rate is locked when you confirm the quote.
- Expired? Nothing is taken
- Get a new invoice in one tap. It keeps the rand amount your recipient gets; the bitcoin amount follows the current rate.
- You can close the app
- Once your bitcoin arrives, the payment carries on. Every payment stays in History with its state and reference.

Guardrails
Simple to pay.
Checked on both sides.
Only approved customers send
Your identity checks must be complete and your profile approved. If it’s still being reviewed, the app tells you why you can’t send yet.
Recipients are verified too
The rand only goes to a recipient you saved, who has their own verified Finex Pay account.
At least R50 to your recipient
If an amount is below the minimum, the app tells you before you continue. Payment limits apply and are shown in the app.
No payment without your go-ahead
A quote is not a payment. Nothing moves until you pay the invoice from your wallet.
Straight answers
Paying with bitcoin,
answered.
- Why bitcoin?
Finex Pay can’t take dollars, pounds or euros directly yet. Paying with bitcoin over Lightning lets you pay from where you live, and your recipient still gets rand in their South African bank account.
- I don’t have bitcoin. Where do I get it?
Buy it in an app that can send bitcoin over Lightning, such as Strike or Coinbase, where they’re available to you. They’re independent services, not Finex Pay partners: their fees and terms apply.
- Can I pay from Angola?
Not yet. Angola is a priority, but we haven’t yet confirmed a way to buy bitcoin there that works for this payment.
- Which wallets can I use?
Any Bitcoin wallet that can pay a Lightning invoice. On your phone, Open in wallet opens your wallet with the invoice filled in. From another device, scan the QR code.
- How much bitcoin do I pay?
The amount on the invoice. It covers what your recipient gets plus our fee, which is included. Your wallet may add its own small network fee.
- What if the invoice expires before I pay?
Nothing is taken from your wallet. Get a new invoice in one tap: your recipient still gets the same rand amount, and the bitcoin amount follows the current rate.
- Does Finex Pay hold my bitcoin?
No. You pay from your own wallet, and Finex Pay does not receive or hold funds. We facilitate transactions between licensed entities.
- Is this an investment product?
No. It’s a way to pay someone in South Africa with bitcoin you already hold. Finex Pay doesn’t sell you bitcoin or give investment advice.
- Who can I pay?
Someone with a South African bank account and their own Finex Pay account. They sign up with their mobile number and pass the same identity checks as you.
- Is there a minimum or a limit?
Your recipient must get at least R50. Payment limits apply; the app shows them before you pay.
- How do I get help or make a complaint?
Quote the reference on your receipt. Call 0861 111 842 or use the Finex Pay contact form. Complaints should first be raised with Finex Pay. If you are unsure which ombud can assist, the Ombud Council can guide you.
